Anthropic Sets Ambitious Revenue Target of Over $850 Million by 2024

Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic is eyeing an annualized revenue surpassing $850 million by the close of 2024, according to insiders cited by The Information on Tuesday. The company, backed by tech giants Amazon.com and Alphabet’s Google, had reportedly informed certain investors three months ago that it was already generating revenue at a $100 million annualized rate. Anthropic anticipates this figure to surge to $500 million by the end of 2024.

Founded by former executives from Microsoft-backed rival OpenAI, alongside siblings Dario and Daniela Amodei, Anthropic specializes in developing generative AI systems capable of producing human-like responses and content. Its Claude AI models compete for attention with OpenAI’s renowned GPT series.

Sources close to Anthropic suggest that the startup could potentially reach a staggering $1 billion in annualized revenue in the coming year, translating to an impressive $83 million in monthly revenue, as reported by The Information. The company is reportedly in talks to secure $750 million in a funding round led by Menlo Ventures, according to a source with direct knowledge of the matter, as reported by Reuters last week.

In recent months, both Google and Amazon have committed substantial investments in Anthropic, pledging up to $2 billion and $4 billion, respectively. The startup’s ambitious revenue projections and ongoing funding discussions underscore the growing significance of generative AI technology in the tech industry.
