Microsoft Revamping Xbox AI Chatbot for Better Gaming

Xbox staff members have tested an automated chatbot to assist with game refunds and support inquiries.

Microsoft is now testing anXbox chatbotthat uses artificial intelligence (AI) to automate jobs. According to insiders who know about the company’s plans, the Verge has learned that Microsoft has been testing an “embodied artificial intelligence avatar” that animates in response to Xbox support inquiries. Microsoft is putting more effort into integrating AI into its Xbox platform and services, including its Xbox artificial intelligence chatbot.

Microsoft’s support docs for the Xbox networking and ecosystems are accessible to the Xbox AI chatbot, which can handle game requests for refunds and answer inquiries from the support website. This substance, which has reviewed an internal Microsoft explanation of the Xbox chatbot, can assist customers in solving their Xbox help inquiries.

Recently, Microsoft boosted the beta-testing class for its Xbox chatbot, raising the possibility that the “Xbox Support Virtual Agent” prototype could eventually answer support inquiries from all Xbox users. Microsoft gave The Verge confirmation that its chatbot is real.

According to Haiyan Zhang, the vice president of gaming artificial intelligence at Xbox, in an interview with The Verge, “We are evaluating an Xbox Support Virtual Agent, a company-owned model of an animating avatar capable of inquiring Xbox Support subjects with speech or text.” The prototype uses details from previous Xbox Support sections to make it simpler and quicker for gamers to receive help with support concerns through spoken language.

The Xbox chatbot is reportedly comparable to the automated support task builders Microsoft wants its clients to develop. Companies like Vodafone, PwC, and others use Microsoft’s Azure AI Bot Service to create intelligent conversational bots.

The Xbox chatbot can promptly assist with support inquiries, from malfunctioning Xbox to difficulties using subscription services. It begins by inquiring players, “How may I assist you right now?” According to sources, Microsoft is testing the Xbox chatbot privately against support inquiries regarding the Minecraft Realms paid server hosting service.

Microsoft’s Xbox chatbot model is a component of a larger initiative in Microsoft Gaming to enhance the Xbox system and developer resources using AI-powered tools and functions. According to sources, Microsoft is also developing AI capabilities for its Xbox platform, equipment, and gaming activities. It involves testing with AI-generated elements and graphics for games, evaluating AI games, and creating generative AI non-player characters (NPCs), which Microsoft has already started working on alongside Inworld.

Microsoft is also considering developing AI-powered Copilots to assist in regulation, complaint procedures, security, and supervision duties like Xbox platform content monitoring. Microsoft is also considering strategies to incorporate AI-powered advisors into video games so that users can receive assistance while playing.

Because Microsoft is taking its time navigating public perceptions of AI in games, Xbox staff have yet to recognize the company’s more considerable AI efforts publicly. Satya Nadella, the chief executive officer of Microsoft, has been encouraging all of the company’s divisions to consider integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into goods and services. However, Xbox has primarily concentrated on developing machine-learning tools.

Microsoft officials revealed their “Xbox Everywhere” plan at an all-hands conference early in the year. The plan highlighted “AI breakthrough” as a crucial component, in addition to their product ecosystems and an Xbox system that allows users to engage with games everywhere they choose.

Several days following the all-hands conference, Microsoft hinted at a mighty next-generation Xbox, with Xbox leader Sarah Bond committing the most significant technological advance in the device’s generational history. I know that artificial intelligence will play an essential role in that technological breakthrough.

According to rumours, Sony is getting ready to release the PS5 Pro system later this year with PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), a picture scaling-up method similar to AMD’s FSR or Nvidia’s DLSS. Though AI-powered visual scaling on platforms is less popular than on PC games, Immortals of Aveum will shortly be the inaugural console game to use AMD’s FSR 3 frame generation. Microsoft is eager to keep up with Sony’s artificial intelligence upscaling initiatives.

The cutting-edge approaches it’s internally already discussing will likely differ from what artificial intelligence initially appears, though Microsoft is considering gaming extensively. Instead, while attempting to determine how to resolve an Xbox malfunction code, it can show up as a smiley animation.
