CES 2024: AI Dominance And Other Expectations

The first companion robot to come equipped with ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence “smart belt” to aid the visually handicapped, and other home appliances driven by AI. The new products introduced at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show will, unsurprisingly, revolve around artificial intelligence (AI), given that AI was the year’s buzzword in the computer industry.

Las Vegas will play host to the 58th annual CES 2024 (Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this week, where attendees can look forward to seeing a mix of innovative technology and unusual devices. At this year’s biggest consumer tech conference, attendees can expect to see robots milling around the exhibit hall, extravagant presentations from major tech companies, and the introduction of quirky items like color-changing autos and last year’s popular $3,000 self-driving stroller.

How to Prepare to Exhibit at CES 2023

But it’s also a great place for executives, producers, and retailers from all kinds of industries to meet and make deals. It has the power to reveal how firms plan to participate in these discussions and lay the groundwork for some of the year’s most significant technological trends.

Forrester chief analyst Dipanjan Chatterjee posed the question, “Perhaps the question to ask is what AI will not touch this year,” in response. “ChatGPT has fueled such a frenzy over the last year that companies feel the AI train is one they must scramble onto, even if they have no idea where it’s going.”

Chatterjee predicted that artificial intelligence (AI) will permeate all aspects of society, from consumer electronics like Samsung refrigerators equipped with the “AI Family Hub” to business products like Intel and Nvidia chips and cards. Topics covered by the panels will range from the ethical implications of AI to its potential effects on employment.

Forrester: Only 30% Of Companies Will Embrace A Full Return-To-Office Model Post-Pandemic

Despite worries regarding the spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant, the Consumer Technology Association—which organizes the annual Consumer Electronics Show—has stated that it anticipates 130,000 physical attendance this year, up from 115,000 in 2018 and 45,000 in 2022. This year, CTA is bringing back their live stream service for select events.

Over 1,200 startups from throughout the globe will be present at the event, joining over 4,000 exhibitors. Speakers will include Microsoft, Samsung, and LG executives, and attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from Snap CEO and co-founder Evan Spiegel and Walmart CEO Doug McMillon. Once again, Apple is not expected to be present at CES, as is its usual practice.

As reported by the CTA, sixty percent of Fortune 500 businesses are expected to be present, allowing for a wide range of product debuts and discussions covering all aspects of technology and more. L’Oréal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus gave the company’s inaugural CES speech, solidifying beauty as an official CES product category.

Using ChatGPT artificial intelligence technology, the Loona companion robot became the first consumer robot in the world.

Among the world’s most rapidly expanding auto shows, the show also continues to grow. Floating, rolling, and flying are just a few of the modes of mobility that will be showcased this year.

As an example, Brunswick, a boat manufacturer, will showcase their electric and self-piloting recreational boats. VinFast, an electric car manufacturer from Vietnam that has just recently joined the American market, will introduce new vehicles, one of which is a compact SUV. An electric aircraft from Hyundai’s air taxi business, Supernal, will also be present.

Every year, several car companies set up displays showcasing the newest features that customers may enjoy while riding in their vehicles.

Other Than AI:

Additionally, next-gen wearables, accessories for mixed reality, and artificial intelligence (AI) foldable screens are all likely to garner a lot of attention this year.

“Expect use cases [for AR and VR] beyond gaming like multimedia consumption and enterprise usage such as training, onboarding, and collaboration,” stated Ramon Llamas, a director at market research firm IDC. “It’s important for companies to stake their ground before Apple releases the Vision Pro later this year.”

Plus, you can see some brand-new wearable form factors. Nominated for an Innovation Award at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show, one device known as Dusk Rx claims to be the first prescription-ready glasses that allow users to adjust the lens tint either through the frame or an accompanying app. On the other hand, a pair of innovative leggings that are also in the running for an Innovation Award boasts a cutting-edge microcurrent that is said to enhance athletic performance.

A few businesses might flaunt improved variants of earlier inventions. For example, at CES in recent years, smart speakers and voice-activated devices have been the main attractions, with manufacturers rushing to incorporate their virtual assistants into household appliances as diverse as microwaves and toilets.

Businesses might take voice to the next level using generative AI, the technology behind products like ChatGPT, even though the anticipated application of the technology was exaggerated.

According to Chatterjee, it will be fascinating to see if a new generation of AI-powered capabilities will revolutionize voice apps by making voice interaction more intuitive and valuable than ever before.

According to Stuart Carlaw, chief research officer at ABI Research, although CES is still a good indicator of market trends in general, the sheer volume and variety of technology goods showcased makes it difficult for any one product to make a significant impact.

“It’s akin to a group of blindfolded explorers trying to understand the full extent of the elephant they are interacting with,” Carlaw remarked. “The one exception is AI,” he said. “If you don’t have an AI story, are you even a tech company?”

 Live Sreams Of Tech Giants:

Many companies will be boasting about how AI has improved their items during CES 2024, which will be held in Las Vegas and attended by hordes of people. Booths will be filled with products. The conference has been inconsistent recently. However, it has become a platform for entrepreneurs to showcase their products while major companies like Samsung, Sony, and Nvidia announce their bigger budget options.

They are beginning at 8 AM PT / 11 AM. ET on Monday, January 8, consumer tech and transportation fans will have enough to watch, as is now the standard since many of the most high-profile news conferences are livestreamed. The public CES show floor will open to the public on January 9 and remain open until January 12, thanks to these events.

As you’ll see, artificial intelligence (AI) will serve as the central theme for nearly all of the major events, with CES 2024 serving as the inaugural event entirely dedicated to the new AI-centric era.

Here are the major companies aiming to make a big impression before the convention doors open and CES 2024 starts for in-person guests on Tuesday.

Monday:

Nvidia:

AT 8 AM PT/11 AM. ET

CES has spared no effort in getting to the meat of the matter. With its recent success driven by AI, Nvidia is entering the event on a high note. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that Nvidia’s keynote speech at CES will center on artificial intelligence and content production.

LG:

At 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET

Also on display will be LG’s upgrades; the company has hinted at what’s to come by revealing its new OLED TV lineup and the AI processors it plans to use, which it says will vastly enhance picture and sound quality compared to older versions. At its CES show, LG will also unveil advancements related to home, mobility, and—guess what—artificial intelligence.

Panasonic:

At 1:00 PM ET /10 AM PT

While most firms are fixated on what artificial intelligence (AI) can uncover, Panasonic is at the forefront of energy and environment policy.

Honda:

At 10:30 AM PT / 1:30 PM ET

At this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Honda has made it very apparent that it will unveil a new line of electric vehicles (EVs), along with a purple teaser of the vehicles’ design. Will additional information regarding Honda’s collaboration with Sony for the Afeela brand be presented simultaneously at CES 2023? Only time will reveal the outcome.

Sennheiser:

At 12:30 PM PT/3:30 PM ET

As you can see from their live feed (which is included below), the audio manufacturer Sennheiser is going to hold its own CES demonstration, and it’s planning to introduce new headphones.

Hyundai:

At 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET

An upgraded version of Hyundai’s Supernal eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicle), originally shown at CES 2020, appears to be the most noteworthy unveiling. In addition to the CES start, Hyudai is holding two events on Tuesday that are devoted entirely to the eVTOL idea and its plans for transportation nodes where these drones can take flight and land. Beyond its lofty aspirations in the sky, Hyundai is planning to discuss sustainability, software, and artificial intelligence (AI) in a webcast that has yet to be live on its YouTube account.

Samsung:

At 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET

Until their next Unpacked event begins on January 17, you will have to settle for waiting if you are seeking Samsung phone news. At CES 2024, Samsung will continue its tradition of showcasing its other product lines.

If the news conference’s theme, “AI for All: Connectivity in the Age of AI,” wasn’t a clue, those products are set to receive an AI push. At their CES event, which will be live-streamed on their newsroom site, Samsung is likely to unveil more artificial intelligence (AI) applications in the kitchen and an updated portfolio of robot vacuums.

Over the weekend, Samsung released more teases for their “new generation of products that can be folded inward and outward.” This might mean that they will have rollable and foldable displays in addition to their foldable phones.

Sony:

At 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET

The ideal example of business synergy would be to have the Ghostbusters logo displayed on a virtual reality headset at CES. Previous CES events by Sony have focused on the company’s technology’s role in the film and gaming industries; “Powering Creativity with Technology” appears to be the theme for CES 2024.

Tuesday

Asus:

At 9 AM PT/12 PM ET

With its mission to send viewers “in search of incredible transcendence,” Asus’s CES teaser is the most exaggerated ever. Indeed, it is one angle from which to view the official unveiling of Asus’s new dual-screen laptop designs.
